Driver Bio
Button was born in England in 1980 in Forme, Sommerset. His parent divorced when he was 7 and it was up to his mother the duties of raising him and his three sisters. Jenson’s father John Button was a present during this time and encouraged the young Button to race.
After several successful years in the minor categories of motorsport, Button out as test driver for Williams in 1999. His times were better than those of Bruno Junqueira, so an impressed Frank Williams awarded him with s seat on the team, a responsibility he was going to share with Ralf Schumacher.
In 2000 Jenson participated in his first season as F1 race driver, but nevertheless with dismal results. It is up to interpretations, but it might have been that early experience what drove him to break his contract with Williams and sign by Benetton in 2001, where again, fails to meet expectations set for him.
After a final season with Benetton (Renault at the start of the 2002 season), the brit signed with BAR Honda so he could get a better car, in well-funded team, therefore he could fight for the top positions. With the team Jenson has his best year as a professional, reaching third place in the standings at the end of 2004 season. His career became stagnant as the team could no reproduce the same performance on its cars, although he scored points regularly to finish ninth and sixth in the 2005 and 2006 championship respectively.
The next two-year period was forgettable. The team was now fully own by HONDA, and yet it declined in performance. During that time Button was a regular in the bottom place finishes of the races, scoring only 6 and 3 point in each championship.
In 2009, Honda decided to quit the sport and at the last moment his Principal, Ross Brawn was able to recue (financially backed by few parties) and bought the team, for which he was working with since the year before and that it had been working in its 2009 car for a long time.
Brawn GP (its new name) had Button and Rubens Barrichello as the two drivers. The new team, powered Mercedes-Benz, played very well FIA’s new regulations, and developed a car that looked like a championship contender.
Since the preseason of the 2009 Jenson Button and his Brawn GP001 model gave a lot to talk about. The British driver collected six victories out of the first seven races of the championship (with a third place in the mix. After Silverstone, the pace of the car begins to fall and contenders start to catch up, but he manages to keep the distance from the rest of the grid despite not winning another race, and become champion at Interlagos, Brazil.
After his great success in 2009, Button went to McLaren, where he had to share the driving duties with 2008 champion Lewis Hamilton. This time Jenson Button is not capable of withstanding the superiority of the Red Bulls and Fernando Alonso concluding the tournament in fifth place. Nevertheless, McLaren scored five wins with two at the hands of him in Australia and China.
or the 2011 season, McLaren’s MP26 model looked edgy, aggressive and smooth enough to challenge for the title, but the mighty Red Bull of Vettel, Webber the team’s fantastic designer Adrian Newey had a different saying. Red Bull dominated the action by a big margin, but Jenson became the high note of the season, by among many things, winning dramatically in Canada by being able to overtake Vettel in the very last lap of hat race after a furious charge.
At the end, Button secured a second place finish in the standings after jumping to the podium 13 times, and in the process earing three victories. He outscored his teammate Hamilton, and distinguished himself as an elite driver capable of leading a team while gaining the respect of fans and the Formula worldwide community.
