Feb 9, 2012 (F1plus Team). - German Sebastian Vettel, double and reigning world champion of Formula One, went to the track today in Jerez with the new Red Bull RB9, and stated that he was satisfied with the car’s response.

Vettel, who was scheduled today and tomorrow for testing, clocked 96 turns, and stressed that it was a good opportunity to start taking the target “pace”.

The German have suggested that the car has behaved as expected highlighting that "there is a great loss of grip" because the new regulations for this season.

However, he explained that soon he became accustomed to the new regulations and that the test has served to "start exploring how you feel about the new car."

"So far we can be happy. We had a couple of issues, but is normal when the car is new," insisted the champion, who registered the third fastest time of the day (1:19.297).

"In the morning it was quite slippery and it does take a little while to get back in to the rhythm and mainly to understand the car. So that was the priority today for me; find the rhythm and try to understand what the car needs so that we can hopefully push the development in the right direction."

The German believes that so far there has not been anything out of the ordinary (besides the ugly front of the cars) in terms of design coming from the rest of the teams that could be big enough to mark a notable difference.

"You try to explore things that you haven't tried before. It's attention to detail, so I don't think there are any big secrets we will find out. If you look at all the cars they are slightly different yes but there is nothing revolutionary. Now we wait for the Mercedes and then we'll know a little bit more.At this stage it's clear that this year it should be very tight again if not tighter than last year." He then added.
