Born in Adelaide during its 11 year long era of hosting Formula One, Jacob Polychronis has admired the sport his whole life. Along with his brother Gabriel, they share their educated opinion via articles and their podcast, F1 News & Views Podcast.

Sauber - On-song: Sauber enjoyed an impressive German Grand Prix on Sunday at the Hockenheimring. Both drivers from Sauber did not complete successful qualifying sessions after Kamui Kobayashi started 12th on the grid and Sergio Perez, 17th after receiving 5 grid spots for impeding. Their race performances were of stark contrast to Saturday though, with Kobayashi eventually finishing in 4th while Perez was good enough for 6th. In total, Sauber accumulated 20 points from the race weekend, their best return from a race this season. So far this season, Sauber's performances have been erratic. The only time they have managed to collect points in the double figures for consecutive races was the first two of the season. Peter Sauber will likely be impressed with the team's performance in Hockenheim, however, emulating their success for consecutive weeks in Hungary will certainly be high on the agenda.

Williams F1 - Gone-wrong: Things at Williams couldn't have been more different a couple of months ago. 5 races into the season, Williams had obtained 43 points including an incredible surprise victory in the Spanish GP. If we now look at the picture today, we are 5 races further into the season and Williams have only contributed an additional 4 points to their tally. Their lack of top 10 pace was exhibited on Sunday. Despite an impressive qualifying performance, Pastor Maldonado managed to waste his 5th spot on the grid and tumble all the way down to 15th. Throughout this disappointing performance, there seemed to be not a thing Maldonado could do to prevent the slide. Joining him amongst the lowly positions was his Brazilian team mate, Bruno Senna. Senna also dropped positions from his starting place, finishing in 17th. Considering their success in the first quarter of the season, Williams placed themselves in a position which promoted excitement and anticipation. Perhaps all Williams fans should return to their former expectations, then they wouldn't be so frequently disappointed.

Nico Rosberg - On-song: Nico Rosberg was responsible for a handy recovery mission on Sunday. Rosberg struggled during the wet qualifying session on Saturday and was only fast enough for 17th position. Courtesy of a gearbox penalty, Rosberg ultimately started the race from 21st. Rosberg then drove strongly to barge through the field and eventually claim the final championship point awarded. Climbing 11 positions from the start of the race is an impressive feat no matter who the opposition is. It is a common occurrence for strong teams, such as Red Bull, which have a disastrous qualifying session to climb the field and finish within the points. Mercedes are not quite Red Bull quality though which is what makes the recovery more special.

Lewis Hamilton - Gone-wrong: The German Grand Prix marked a special occasion as it was Lewis Hamilton's 100th. It turned out to not be an occasion for celebration though. Sadly, Hamilton suffered a puncture on the third lap after meeting with some debris which was discarded from Felipe Massa's front wing. As a result, Hamilton was forced to limp for an entire lap back to the pits, thus ending any chance for a fairytale 100th Grand Prix. What added to the shame of this occurrence was the fact that the MP4-27 was dramatically improved this weekend as proved by Jenson Button's 2nd place finish. Hamilton also proved this fact by un-lapping himself. Unfortunately, Hamilton eventuated as the only retirement for the race as a result of puncture related damage
