MONZA, Italy, Sept 8, 2012 (AFP) - British Formula One driver Paul di Resta will be relegated five places on the grid for the Italian Grand Prix because of a change of gearbox it was announced on Saturday.

The man from Scotland was having a good weekend, something that was confirm today with a superb 4th place in qualifying. Unfortunately once the penalty is applied he will have to star from ninth.

This 'pole' achievement confirms the good momentum the Force India team is having, since both drivers finished in the points last weekend at Spa-Francorchamps with Hulkenberg claiming a fourth, the best of his career.

The 26-year-old Force India driver - who is 15th in the overall standings with 28 points - had to have his gearbox changed after last Sunday's Belgian Grand Prix where he finished 10th when team mechanics detected a problem.

Under the rules drivers can only change gearboxes after a minimum of five  races.

Di Resta - whose best finish in 12 races this season has been sixth in the  Bahrain Grand Prix - will be penalised after final qualifying later on Saturday.
