Raikkonen happy but wants more

Lotus seems to be headed in the right direction, but the season is still a month away.

February 19, 2013 (F1plus).- The winter testing action re-started today at the Circuit of Catalunya (Spain) and for the Lotus F1 team, things are going rather well.

Kimi Raikkonen was content with performance, but understating how valuable lap time it is and not being able to run the entire predefined program, it might just hurt the overall scope of the testing.

"It wasn't a ideal in terms of the number of laps we completed, but the car feels strong and we've made some good progress."

"After Jerez it's nice to be at a circuit where we race and the E21 is definitely a step in the right direction. There's lots of work yet to do this week but I'm happy with where we are." Said Räikkönen.

The Finn ended the session with the second best time, and just narrowly missed being the first for 0.007 of a second. All this with a run of only 44 laps.

It seems obvious that Lotus has improved from the Jerez round to this one, but so has have others. The team understands progress must continue.

Alan Permane, Trackside Operations Director shared his views about the session.

“It’s been a positive debut for the second chassis here in Barcelona. Kimi was happy with where the car started the day, and the setup changes we’ve made have been positive.

“We had a few issues on the electronics side with the telemetry data-logging and this has cost us track time as well as the ability to conduct longer runs. Other than that, we’ve been able to take over from where we left off in Jerez so we’re happy with that. All we need is more laps, which is our focus for tomorrow.” Permane said.
