May 11 (F1plus Team).- The Brazilian Formula One driver Felipe Massa says that if would no have had had the problems in pits, he could have ended the Grand Prix in Istanbul in the top five and even have gotten the fourth since he believes he was able to overtake Hamilton who finished in that position.

“I ended up eleventh, when I could have been challenging for fourth place and that was mainly down to poor pit stops.” said the Brazilian in his blog, hosted on the official website of his team, Ferrari.

Massa recalled that the Turkish Grand Prix was the first of the season where he did not score any points and recognizes that this result was "disappointing" and "frustrating" for him and for Ferrari. Mainly, the second part of the race things did not go well.

"I had a Sunday full of problems, but in the first part of the race I did very well: I was able to overtake several cars, I even moved pass Hamilton in the same lap in which both entered pits," Massa explains.

"Once there, everything started to unravel because the stop I made was far from perfect," he adds.

Massa notes that everyone in Ferrari should study the problem and try to be "more consistent" for "a better change of tires."

" We will have to study the problem and try and be more consistent, because in a single stop, just a small delay in changing wheels and you can lose position, as happened to me in Istanbul.” said the Brazilian.

Massa also understands the high pressure to which the pit crew is subject to. “…Because not only are they having to be perfect several times during a race, but also since the banning of refueling, they no longer have that time cushion changing wheels, while waiting for all the fuel to go in.”

In terms of improving the car, Massa explained that the latest aerodynamic changes introduced in the 150th Ferrari Italy have increased the performance level of the car…. as can be seen from the fact that Fernando secured Ferrari’s first podium finish of the year.”

Ferrari's Brazilian, who is now in Rome for advertising commitments, will travel in the coming days to their team headquarters in Maranello to work with the simulator.

"We must do everything to turn around our season," he adds.
