We have turned the corner now - Perez

McLaren will bring a big upgrade package to kick start the "European Season" next week at Barcelona.

May 2nd, 2013 (F1plus).- Yes indeed, we still have in our minds that fascinating wheel-to-wheel fight between McLaren teammates, Sergio Perez and Jenson Button, with the participation also of Nico Rosberg, and Romain Grosjean.

At the end of the internal battle Sergio Perez took the best as he finished 6th, compared to his teammate who crossed the line in 10th. Maybe, this is a sign that winds of change –good ones- will come to McLaren.

After being in the spotlight for so long, the ex-sauber man Sergio Perez can finally take a breath and enjoy what might be resurgence.

It’s not secret that the MP4-28 wasn’t the expected performer it was supposed to be, fighting for the points instead of the podium.

Nevertheless, Sergio Pérez hopes that the major upgrades the team will bring to the next race in Barcelona will put the McLaren into a much better position.

"After a tough start to the season, we are all united to get this team back where it belongs at the front," said Pérez. "Hopefully, we have turned the corner now."

Pérez commented about his transition from the somewhat small team of Sauber to the gigantic McLaren.

"It has been great getting to know the whole team – the experience has been all I thought it would be, and more," Say the 23-year old Mexican.

"Everyone has treated me so well and I feel like I have settled in great." He added.

In a little more than a week the “European Season” starts –with a break to go to Canada in June- with Perez looking forward to pay a visit to the classic and history full tracks.

"It's something I'm looking forward to because Europe is really the home of Formula 1 - the circuits have a lot of history.

“Tracks like Monaco, Silverstone, Spa and Monza have been on the calendar since Formula 1 started in 1950 - I think it's great that we still have those circuits that represent the sport and all its history. We can never lose them." He concluded.
