May 17th, 2013 (F1plus).- Yes indeed, Mercedes wants to pass the page and concentrate in winning the street circuit of Monaco, a place were overtaking is very hard and tyre degradation not too bad, which are elements that play on the W04’s favor.

Last awful race for the Brackley team made very clear that speed in few laps in qualifying trim is there as three ‘pole’ just confirmed that, but once the red lights turn off things go downhill.

Still, the team feels optimistic, since anyways there’s been progress when compare to last year, and there are reason to look forward, even beyond this championship but to 2014.

Nico Rosberg does hide his excitement about he next race in his “hometown’.

“Knowing that all my family and friends are watching makes it very special and I love being able to drive from home into the paddock on a scooter!

“The surroundings definitely make Monaco the coolest track on the calendar and the atmosphere over the weekend is great. “ Rosberg Said.

Then his is well aware of his car potential and limitations that come from the tyre management issue.

“At the moment we have a good car for qualifying which helps in Monaco as it's the most important qualifying session of the year as track position is so important.

“So that might be helpful for us but there are so many unknowns, especially with the tyres, so we will just have to wait and see.” He Added.

Many believe the unhappiest person on the latest stages of the Spanish race was Lewis Hamilton. Starting from 2nd to so powerlessly fall down to 12th has to be something of an emotional ordeal for the competitive Briton.

“Whilst there hasn't been a lot of time since Barcelona, we've been working hard to put the disappointment of the last race behind us and focus on the opportunities ahead. “ Hamilton Said.

But Monaco is the place were all want to be, and the Briton is not shy about his passion for the circuit and overall feeling about the weekend.

“Monaco is one of my favorite races of the year and I love driving the streets there.

“It's a real experience to see the barriers flashing past at high speed and I love the fact that the fans can get so close to the track making for a great atmosphere.” He added.

Just like his teammate Hamilton reflects on the importance of qualifying high as well as the tyre element that affects race performance so greatly.

“Perhaps more than at many other tracks, qualifying and getting the best possible track position is crucial in Monaco, but we have to keep our focus on Sunday as well and keep working to improve our race pace.” He concluded.
