MONZA, September 5th, 2013 (F1plus/R. Baillie).- As it currently stands, Caterham needs one 13th place finish to regain 10th place in the constructors championship. Failing to do so will mean the team receives no end of year prize money; a rule introduced by Bernie Ecclestone earlier this year.
“It is very important for us to get it back and of course with a little luck, we need one 13th place we will have it back” Giedo van der Garde said.
The Dutchman has recently had a string of strong performances, especially in Spa, and believes Singapore is where they’re most likely to finish 13th, regaining 10th in the constructors championship.
“Singapore. It’s a race where a lot of things happen.” He said, “Plus one little mistake and you’re off. So I think there we have a good chance to get it back”.
Teammate Charles Pic couldn’t pinpoint a particular circuit but thought it would need to be a strange and unpredictable race, “a bit of a strange or crazy race, so we cannot predict where, why it will happen, I think the most important for this is to make sure we are in front of the Marussia.”
Speaking about the teams aims this weekend in Italy Pic said, “The first and main target would be to be in front of the Marussias and even increase the gap if we can, and the second one would be to try to reduce the gap with Williams.”
