Force India hoping for points

The Silverstone based team have struggled all weekend but are hoping to pick up points at the Italian Grand Prix
Saturday, September 7, 2013

MONZA, September 7th, 2013 (F1Plus / Rosie Baillie) - After a tough weekend, which has seen both drivers struggling with balance, Paul di Resta and Adrian Sutil will start Sunday’s Italian Grand Prix 16th and 17th respectively.

Di Resta said that he felt 16th was the best he could achieve due to struggles with qualifying pace.

“Ultimately we didn’t have the performance to do any better than P16. It’s fair to say that we have struggled more with our one-lap pace here, so hopefully we can be more competitive in race conditions,” he explained.

With the possibility of rain on the cards the Scot is hoping the weather may play into Force India's hands.

“There’s also talk of changeable weather so maybe we can do something with the strategy to move forward in the race.”

Sutil echoed his teammate's comments about achieving the maximum from the car and added that balance was still a problem.

“There was not much we could do ahead of qualifying apart from change a few more things to try and help the balance. The car felt a bit better for qualifying, but we are still too far away from where we should be.”

The German initially qualified in 14th place but will now start in 17th after receiving a three place grid drop for impeding Lewis Hamilton during qualifying.

Team Principal Vijay Mallya says that despite having a fight on their hands, the team will do their utmost to walk away from tomorrow’s race with points.

"We never give up and will try our best to come away with some points,” Mallya said.
