Interlagos, BRAZIL, November 22nd, 2013 (F1Plus / Bruno Ferreira) - Lotus team principal Eric Boullier is confident that it’s a matter of time until the deal with investors Quantum Motorsport is finally done.
After some months of speculation, Lotus is coming close to the deadline to finalise its budget for next season. The money from the investors will be a key factor of the decision on the team’s second driver of 2014 – Quantum Motorsport’s preference is Nico Hulkenberg.
Boullier believes that the first step to close the agreement has already been made. “There is still some discussion ongoing, especially now between bankers. The process is not fully completed but I think part of it has been done, which is obviously a good sign for the weekend. We hope everything is closed by early next week”, he said.
He believes that the money will not just be useful for sorting out the driver situation, but also to allow the team to keep its competitiveness for 2014. “Obviously you need to have the right package to get the right driver. But obviously sometimes the right driver is with the right package, so we will do our best to keep our force all together.”
Asked if he feels confident to get the driver he wants, he said: “I’m still confident I’ll get one of the guys I want.”
