Williams will bring a diffuser upgrade

The team hopes for Maldonado to finally score his first points and Barrichello to add more.

June 21 (Andrés Rojas).- The british team Williams is travelling to Valencia with a further updated diffuser for this weekend’s European Grand Prix.

It is not a secret that the team has had one of it worst starts of the season ever.  Retirements, lack of pace, and sometimes bad luck ha contributed to the discouraging results.

However, in the last few races the team seems to gain a bit momentum, as Rubens Barrichello scored points in both Monte Carlo and Montreal. Maldonado could have brought even more points as he has had a tough time to finished races when driving within the points, most of times not by his own making.

The new diffuser is expected to improve performance in general, but tyre management will key again.

“Typically the grip level is low at Valencia, as it's a street circuit that takes some time to rubber up,” explains Williams Technical Director Sam Michael.

“The Pirelli tyres performed exceptionally in Monaco though, so we don't expect anything less here. Setup is geared for slow-speed corner grip, but there is also a fantastic high-speed section through Sector 3.

“We have some further upgrades to our diffuser and our target is to be in the points with both our cars.”

With Valencia having made its race debut in 2008, Williams’ best result to date is fourth with Barrichello last year.
