(EFE).- The Brazilian Formula 1 driver, Felipe Massa, said today in his blog that the Ferrari 150° Italia, is a "reliable", car while recognizing that still needs more work to improve its speed.

"The car seems to be reliable, but that is not enough: it must also be fast," insisted the Brazilian on his blog, which also wrote that he and Ferrari are "ready" and "optimistic" with the Formula 1 Championship which begins next Sunday in Melbourne (Australia).

Massa noted that, although traditionally the Australian circuit Albert Park has been a difficult place for him, he is "happy" to start the 2011 championship there.

"I'm happy to start the season in Australia, but I still feel some disappointment for not being able to run on Bahrein" a track that both the driver and his team achieved important victories in previous years.

The Ferrari driver commented that he would do his best in order to win.

The Brazilian has also reflected in his online journal on the new rules in Formula 1 and commented also on the inclusion of KERS and the mobile rear wing that makes the racing sport "more diverse and more spectacular" than previous years.

However, Massa has admitted that before the testing pre-season started, he was not sure how one could use these innovations.

"Before driving for the first time in the test I was concerned to understand how one could use, manage and operate all these commands, but after the first rounds all ended up becoming automatic and, with the engineers, we have found good ways to use these systems without losing concentration and visibility of the track", he explained.

The Brazilian has pointed out that another great news for Formula 1 drivers is the use of the Italian tire manufacturer Pirelli.

"As far as I'm concerned, it is true that with Pirelli I have no difficulty in warming up the tires, one of my biggest problems last year" when Bridgestone was the supplier, Massa has ruled.
