March 15, 2014 (F1 Plus / Rosie Baillie) - Sebastian Vettel, Fernando Alonso and Kevin Magnussen have all been cleared of infringements by the stewards following a wet qualifying session at the season opener in Australia.

Both Vettel and Magnussen were under investigation for failing to slow sufficiently in a yellow flag sector, after Kimi Raikkonen’s crash in Q2.

After speaking with both drivers the stewards decided that they had ‘slowed sufficiently’.

A statement from the stewards about Vettel read: ‘The driver’s explanation supported by the telemetry satisfied the Stewards that, under changing track conditions, the driver had slowed sufficiently and was fully in control.’

Their statement regarding Magnussen was very similar: ‘While the telemetry was inconclusive due to very different track conditions between laps, the Stewards were satisfied from the video and the driver’s explanation that he was sufficiently slow and under control.’

McLaren were however fined €200 after Magnussen was caught speeding in the pitlane. The pit lane speed limit in Australia is 60km/h and the Dane was caught doing 61.1km/h.

Alonso avoided further action after the stewards decided that he had not impeded Sauber’s Esteban Gutierrez during qualifying.

Gutierrez and Williams’ Valtteri Bottas have both received a five-place grid penalty due to gearbox changes.
