Give me a brake, Kobayashi tells critics

The Japanese driver impacted Felipe Massa's Williams from behind at the start of the Australian GP.

MELBOURNE, March 17, 2014 (AFP) - Japan's Kamui Kobayashi sarcastically hit back at his critics on Monday after an investigation found his Australian Grand Prix crash was due to brake failure.

The Caterham driver was taunted on Twitter after he ploughed into the back of Felipe Massa's Williams at the first turn, taking both cars out of the race.

But after a probe found faulty brakes were to blame, Kobayashi tweeted:

"Someone criticize me on twitter but I want ask how can I stop the car with out rear brake? I need jump out to push back the car?"

Before the investigation was completed, an angry Massa had called for a one-race ban for Kobayashi, comparing it to a crash caused by Lotus's Romain Grosjean in 2012.

But a stewards' inquiry found Sunday's incident was "caused by a serious technical failure completely outside the control of the driver".

Caterham were ordered to work with the technical delegate from the sport's governing body to address the dangerous flaw.
