BARCELONA, 9th May 2014 (F1 Plus / Rosie Baillie) - Sebastian Vettel will miss FP2 due to a damaged wiring loom.

An electrical issue brought the world champion to a halt during FP1 and he was unable to get back out on track during the session.

The team said the issue had damaged the wiring loom on his car and as a result Vettel will miss FP2 while the team fix the car in time for FP3.

Due to an electrical problem that has damaged the wiring loom of Car No. 1, Sebastian will not be able to take part in FP2” Red Bull tweeted.

“The Team will use the time to fix it to be ready for FP3 tomorrow.”

Later in the day Vettel confirmed that the issue wasn't related to the change of chassis and said it was a new issue caused by a 'simple' failure in one of the looms.

"We had a simple failure in one of the looms this morning, which caused a short and meant the car stopped." he said.

"there was nothing new on that part of the car, it was something new that happened in that area.Vettel hasn’t had an easy start to the season, with only one podium appearance so far."

During Thursday’s press conference the German said there was plenty of work ahead of the team and said they needed to remain patient.

“Obviously there is still a lot of work ahead of us, as I mentioned after the first couple of races, maybe I’m not as happy as I want to be but it’s a long process,” he said

“a lot of things have changed and I think we need to be patient.” he said during Thursday’s press conference.
