In the McLaren was Stoffel Vandoorne, who was carrying out tyre testing in the McLaren. On his maiden outing in a Formula One car he completed 136 laps of Circuit de Catalunya, which is enough to earn him his Super Licence.

To earn a Super Licence you have to amass 300km/190miles in a F1 car and Vandoorne achieved 633km/393miles.

Daniil Kvyat completed the least number of laps, racking up just 21 laps after stopping twice on track.

Caterham did not run on the second day due to damage sustained to the car following Kamui Kobayashi’s crash shortly before the end of day one.
