24th, May 2014 (F1 Plus / Rosie Baillie) - Nico Rosberg took pole position in Monaco ahead of teammate Lewis Hamilton.

Rosberg set the fastest lap of the session a 1:15.989 towards the start of the session.

Just before the chequered flag fell Rosberg ran wide down an escape road at Mirabeau meaning teammate Hamilton had to back off on his final lap and will start second.

The two Red Bulls will start on the second row with Daniel Ricciardo qualifying third and Sebastian Vettel, who was suffering with an intermittent MGU-K issue, fourth

Fernando Alonso starts fifth with teammate Kimi Raikkonen sixth. Jean-Eric Vergne will begin seventh with rookie Kevin Magnussen eighth.

Nico Hulkenberg narrowly missed out on Q3 and will qualify 11th, followed by Jenson Button and Valtteri Bottas.

The Lotus duo were unable to make it through to Q3 again with Romain Grosjean qualifying 14th and Pastor Maldonado 15th.

Felipe Massa got through to Q2 but an incident with Marcus Ericsson at the end of Q1 meant he was unable to get back to the pitlane to take part in the second session and will start the race 16th.

Both Sauber’s failed to make it through to Q2. Esteban Gutierrez will start 17th and Adrian Sutil 18th.

It was two by two at the back of the grid with Jules Bianchi and Max Chilton qualifying 19th and 20th respectively and Kamui Kobayashi and Marcus Ericsson 21st and 22nd.

The stewards are going to be busy this afternoon with three incidents under investigation after qualifying:
