16th June, 2014 (F1plus / Rosie Baillie) - Michael Schumacher is out of a coma and has left the Grenoble hospital where he has been since a skiing accident last December.
Schumacher’s manager, Sabine Kehm, today confirmed that the seven time world champion is no longer in a coma.
“Michael has left the CHU Grenoble to continue his long phase of rehabilitation.” Kehm said.
“He is not in a coma anymore.”
The German was put in a medically induced coma following a skiing accident on December 29th last year, which left him fighting for his life.
Kehm thanked the staff at the hospital and well-wishers on behalf of the family and said the Formula One legend would continue his rehabilitation away from the public eye.
“His family would like to explicitly thank all his treating doctors, nurses and therapists in Grenoble as well as the first aiders at the place of the accident, who did an excellent job in those first months.”
“The family also wishes to thank all the people who have sent Michael all the many good wishes...we are sure it helped him.”
“For the future we ask for understanding that his further rehabilitation will take place away from the public eye.”
