Kvyat: everything to play for

The Russian will start ninth after Toro Rosso chose not to run at the end of Q3.

SILVERSTONE, 5th July 2014 (F1 Plus / Rosie Baillie) - Daniil Kvyat says everything is to play for during the British Grand Prix, which he will start from ninth.

“I don’t really know exactly how the weather is going to be. In the end with both conditions there is everything to fight for and everything is open.” he said when asked by F1 Plus if he thought rain could help Toro Rosso.

Both Kvyat and teammate Jean-Eric Vergne stayed in the garage at the end of Q3 which forced them down the grid while other drivers improved.

The Russian didn’t know why they didn’t run again but accepted what had happened.

“Why I don’t know, I mean we had a strong session all the way, we’d been looking strong, our pace was good once again we’re in Q3 with both cars, it’s a good sign.” Kvyat said.

“I don’t believe in luck, it just went this way today and we have to accept the grid positions for tomorrow.”

Vergne was disappointed, especially given they have been quicker than both Force India’s all weekend, but was trying to remain positive.

“It's a shame as we had a good car to fight for a higher position in the ranking, and it's disappointing also considering that along the weekend we have consistently been quicker than some of the cars that will be in front of us on the grid tomorrow.” said Vergne.

“Let's stay positive and think that P9 and P10 are anyway good enough to hope for a good race tomorrow.”
