The Frenchman said he was unable to challenge cars ahead.

27th July 2014 (F1Plus / Rosie Baillie) - Jules Bianchi struggled with balance issues for most of the race following a collision with Pastor Maldonado.

Maldonado ran deep and hit Bianchi on lap 17 at turn one, damaging the Marussia and leaving the Frenchman with serious balance issues.

Bianchi said the balance problems meant he couldn’t attack the cars ahead, especially their main rivals Sauber.

“That was a tough race for me because I had to drive for more than 50 laps with a damaged car with terrible balance problems,” Bianchi said.

“Maldonado just came from nowhere and hit me in the side. I was really fearful it would put me out of the race and I knew it was a race that would present a lot of opportunities, for me and also our competitors.

“the balance problems meant that I could not take the fight to the cars ahead, particularly the Saubers, who at one point were in a good position that might have threatened our championship placing.”

Formula One now heads into the summer break until the Belgian Grand Prix but Bianchi is already thinking about the second half of the season.

“My thanks to the whole Team and I wish everyone a very relaxing summer break,” he said.

“after which we will return stronger and hopefully finish the job we started in terms of beating Sauber on the track.”

Teammate Max Chilton crossed the line 16th.
