SPA-FRANCORCHAMPS, August 23rd, 2014 (F1Plus / Rosie Baillie) André Lotterer is feeling positive about his first day of running in the Caterham.

Lotterer completed 24 laps in each practice session and finished 21st in FP1 and 20th in FP2.

“first practice was a good session for me; I got used to the car quite quickly and now I just need to optimise everything in terms of driving style,” he said.

“Considering it was my first time out, it all went according to plan and I was able to get a good feel of what it’s like to drive the car.

“Now we need to keep working like this and continue improving the car.”

The three-time 24 Hours of Le Mans champion said they were able to follow their programme.

He ended FP2 10 minutes early when he suffered a technical issue.

“FP2 was another good session and everything went smoothly even though we had to stop a little bit early due to a technical problem,” Lotterer explained.

“We’ve been able to follow the programme as planned, improving while learning and trying to play with the car slowly.

“We did some long runs and I’m certainly starting to feel comfortable with everything, even though I’m still in the learning curve.”

During the team representatives press conference on Friday, Caterham's technical director John Iley praised Lotterer's work so far.

"we're basically getting his experience and feedback on the car during this weekend and he's done a very solid job for us so far," Iley said.
