MELBOURNE, March 27, 2011 (AFP) - Sauber pair Japan's Kamui Kobayashi and Mexican Sergio Perez were excluded from the result of the Australian Grand Prix for technical infringements, FIA stewards said on Sunday.
Kobayashi, who finished eighth and Perez, in seventh, were found to have breached technical regulations and will not get any points from the race, the stewards said.
The infringement relates to the uppermost rear wing of their cars. Sauber team manager Beat Zehnder said his team would be lodging appeals against the FIA stewards' decision on both drivers. The exclusion of the Sauber drivers elevated Ferrari's Felipe Massa to seventh place, ahead of Toro Rosso's Sebastien Buemi and Force India duo Adrian Sutil and Paul di Resta.
Germany's Sebastian Vettel in a Red Bull won the season opener at
Melbourne's Albert Park.
