While watching the closely fought battle between Kimi Raikkonen and Lewis Hamilton in 2007, I realised there is much more to Motorsport than “driving round in circles”. Since then I have followed the sport religiously and defied international time zones to keep up with the fast paced sport.
I started my blog ‘stoodonthepodium’ when I was told that my love of Formula 1 had grown much beyond that of anyone I knew. By writing about it, I spare those who know me from lengthy conversations about the latest race, tyre strategies and the greatest drivers of all time. Instead I can share these moments with other fans who understand.
I have also been writing for ‘The Sideline Agenda’ covering Formula 1 and its training ground Formula Renault 3.5. This has opened my eyes to the difficulties of entering the racing pinnacle and the pressure that sits on the shoulders of racing drivers every year.
Since I began writing, I have been lucky enough to interview some of the greatest talents, those who have had F1 contracts terminated to those who one day hope to make it there.
I hope this is just the beginning.
