July 15th , 2012 (F1plus / Surendhar).- Formula One of the 21st century is being ruled by two German drivers and of which one is the current reigning champion and the other is the sports’ most dominant driver. Sebastian Vettel only has few records to surpass and his statistics enumerates what he has really been into so far. The other being, undoubtedly, Michael Schumacher the German legend who has arguably nothing to prove but still proving his excellence on his second birth in F1. Unable to get fazed out, Monaco pole reestablished his endurance and refreshed his skill set.

In the 62 years of F1 racing, no German driver had come half the close to Michael on winning at home. Even something Vettel has to think about is to break his victory jinx in there. One-third of Nurburgring grid last year was occupied by the Germans with three having potential podium chances. At the closure, none of the home drivers took the podium, the crowds were bitterly disappointed yet again on a gloomy Sunday. This time it’s rather same in a way Vettel still got the fastest car running.

The ousted Sutil gave room to Hulkenberg and Heidfeld no longer being part of the Lotus team from last year’s line-up. Hulkenberg embarking on a flying form over his team-mate Resta recently and Hockenheimring is where he needs to bag as much points as possible after narrowly missing out at it in the British GP.

The all German team of Mercedes will get benefited by the overcast weather and Michael has no better place to end his victory drought since 2006. Rosberg, Webber, Vettel and Schuey would go for the pole battle along with Ferraris and Lotuses of Grosjean and Raikkonen.

As Rosberg often been facing towards the back end of the field, he is on a hurry to get back up before it’s too late. There are upgrades expected on the Mercedes car to have an edge over others and remember last time? Lewis Hamilton’s persistence paid off when he flustered the Germans to take his first win at the Nurburgring. While there will be hopeful eyes of fans begging for home success, the aftermath of race could shake up the pecking order.

Qualifying will certainly spice up the proceedings as there is so much to gain for a few and so much to restore for some. Can a German finally see the chequered flag after five years? Can Vettel regain his supremacy he lost in Silverstone when the car aquaplaned and struggled to get the right balance? Or will the old-man himself repeat his success story once more? A week to go till it all begin!!!
